NESLIHAN ASAR

Best Investment Ever!

My involvement with DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi started during my college years at BCC North Campus between 94-96.

Serving as the State President (1995-96), and the time and the preparation leading into this responsibility with DECA, my involvement certainly helped with my career in the hospitality industry, as well as with what was ahead for me in the international corporate world and the challenging world of hospitality while laying the ground for my personal investments and Entrepreneurial projects throughout Europe in the years to come.

I had a keen interest in Entrepreneurship and hospitality. With my involvement and focus in these fields, I was able to create projects and represent Florida Delta Epsilon Chi in State and International Career Development Conferences, while truly learning and experiencing first-hand what the outcomes would project for the future. My involvement with DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi did not just stay on a professional level. I was able to make lifetime friends, and just as important, learn life long skills to compliment my business vision. DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi has certainly brought out the best in me, as I had many fulfilling opportunities for hands-on involvement, from public speaking to preparing 100% realistic business plans. DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi certainly prepared me for the real corporate world.

Both the professional, as well as the personal skills developed during my involvement with DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi still serves its purposes today. I have recently started my third international company in the hospitality field, and still today, I can count on my friends and mentors from over 10 years ago to walk the mile with me, while the experiences learned still serve their purposes.

DECA has given me the knowledge, working experience, confidence and the comfort zone of how and what the real business world is all about, while keeping it very real. Because of this great organization, I excelled with Starwood Corporation working all over Europe and working with Conrad/Hilton Hotels International as their Director of International Sales. Not all this happens by chance, but with solid coaching and experience. I sincerely believe that I do have much to thank our organization as a whole, but more on a personal level, to my mentors and the opportunities presented to me. My success was due to the fact that I invested my time, and my mentors were/are great business gurus as they were able to see the best in me and knew how to bring it to the next level. The many times I have thanked them, I don’t think will ever justify my gratitude for them.

So thank you again!
